Spiritual Growth: Stop Chasing Higher Vibrations. Go Deeper.
Oct 09, 2026There is a tendency among spiritual practitioners to always want to go higher. Higher in vibration. Higher in consciousness. Higher dimensions. Higher realms. Higher, higher, higher… Blah, blah, blah. 😆 They constantly talk about wanting to ascend, expand, open, activate, connect to something more. But after doing this work, I've discovered something important:
You can only go as high as you go deep.
And I don't think we talk about the deep nearly enough.
The Skyscraper Principle: Why Foundation Matters More Than Height
Think about how a skyscraper is built. It doesn't begin by going up. It begins by going deep.
Before hundreds of feet of glass and steel can rise into the sky, an enormous amount of work has to happen beneath the surface. Engineers have to understand what the building is actually standing on and anchoring into. Depending on the land, foundations may extend deep underground until the building's tremendous weight can be transferred into something strong enough to hold it.
Because the taller the structure, the more important the integrity of what supports it. When storms come, when the ground shifts, the skyscraper remains standing because of something passersby will never even see: its foundation.
(Isn't it funny how in dream interpretation, skyscrapers symbolize your higher purpose?)
How to Tell If Your Spiritual Foundation Is Actually Strong
Everyone wants to reach higher. Blast off. Expand. Go on a journey. But how deep have you actually gone?
I know what you might be thinking: "I've done the deep work. Healing childhood trauma, past-life healing, modalities like QHHT, and more."
That’s awesome, but it’s not what I’m talking about. Go deeper.
Have you ever stopped to consider what all that deep healing is ultimately meant to give you? What it changes about the way you inhabit yourself? I'm talking about how deeply you're rooted into yourself — into your sovereignty.
Ask yourself:
- How strong is your foundation?
- How well do you know your own energy?
- Can you tell what belongs to you and what doesn't?
- Can you hold your sovereign space in a crowded room?
- Can you clear your own field when something interferes with it?
- Do you trust yourself and what you channel?
- Do you know how powerful and capable you truly are? Have you embodied that?
Experienced Spiritual Practitioners Still Struggle With This
This is where I see it happen most often. Spiritual practitioners keep reaching up and out without ever strengthening what's underneath them. Their gifts may be extraordinary, their channel may be wide open, they may have taken every spiritual course under the sun — but underneath it all can still be a surprisingly shallow foundation.
They struggle to stay grounded, have trouble trusting the messages they receive, are vulnerable to energetic interference, and may even have trouble with their reality. Their gifts expand faster than their ability to hold themselves steady within. Or, as my spirit team calls it, they become untethered.
Your Sovereignty Is Your Foundation
I’ve worked with people at many different stages of spiritual development, and some of the most advanced practitioners I’ve encountered still had significant gaps in their energetic foundation. Their gifts had developed, but the foundation needed to support them hadn’t kept pace.
Strengthening your energetic foundation isn’t about limiting your expansion. It’s about building something within you strong enough to support how high you’re actually meant to go.
That means going deep. Deep into your own energy. Deep into your discernment. Deep into your boundaries. Deep into your sovereignty.
Within your depths is a unique kind of Light you cannot access if you only stay up high. When you discover that Light, you discover something steadfast within yourself — something that isn’t easily moved by the elements around you, that doesn’t disappear when the environment changes, and that isn’t dependent on another healer, practitioner, or teacher keeping you clear. Something that remains yours when the winds blow and the earth beneath you moves.
You.
The Freedom to Rise
Lasting spiritual growth isn’t simply about how high you can reach. It’s also about what’s supporting you once you get there. The practitioners who remain grounded as their gifts expand are those who continue strengthening the foundation beneath them.
And from there? Go as high as you want. Because now you have something capable of anchoring you there.
How high you rise is determined by how deeply you’re rooted.
